COMMITTEE TASKS

Greetings, CIU Law and Policy Committee, 

The Office of the President welcomes all of you and thank you for participating on the CIU Law and Policy Committee. As you know, the Law and Policy Committee at a university typically reviews and recommends policies related to legal and governance matters, ensuring consistency with the university's mission and legal requirements. They examine proposed new or revised university policies to ensure they are clear, consistent, and align with the university's overall mission and legal obligations. 

YOU ARE THE GLUE THAT HOLDS CIU TOGETHER! 🎓🎒🏫🥇

Here are the requirements for your committee. 

Meet every 3 to 4 weeks and provide an update of your accomplishments. 
Provide a 2025-2026 Strategic Plan for your committee no later than Sunday, August 4, 2025. 
Keep the Office of the President abreast of your tasks, meetings, and accomplishments. 
Setup a meeting with President Williams, the Board of Trustees, and myself if needed. 
Conduct research on various laws and policies to ensure institutional compliance. 
Designate a representative(s) to be the spokesperson on behalf of CIU.  
Other committee duties as assigned by your Chairperson or the Office of the President.
Provide a Committee Status Report every 3-4 weeks. Note: The committee can create a PowerPoint Presentation with your status report, which is optional. 
Create new and update existing policies and procedures for the university. 
 Evaluate and investigate university policies and procedures to ensure that the university is in compliance with all regulations. 
Create an evaluation checklist to conduct inspections and audits, and make recommendations to ensure all laws and policies are followed at the university. 
Conduct investigations on all catalogs, policies and procedures at university. 

Time management is important and please make time for your university, because we are counting on you. You will also receive a Certificate in the next few weeks for your participation. Failure is not an option, and I am counting on you to communicate and collaborate with each other to make CIU successful. You may start your committee today and if you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask and wish you all the best.
